On this day, John Philip Boehm was born. Boehm came to American in 1720, and five years later was prevailed upon by the German Reformed settlers in Pennsylvania to become their pastor, though unordained.
In 1725, he wrote a constitution and organized three congregations that would become the present-day Reformed Church in the United States. During his life, he would travel more than 25,000 on horseback up and down the Eastern seaboard establishing Reformed congregations. He is properly remembered as the founder of our church.
