Update on Zion Reformed Church, Menno, SD – God Growing His Church
In spring of 2024, through a series of unique providences, a group of believers from the area around Stickney, SD, began communicating with Rev. Travis Grassmid. They were historically affiliated with the RCA (Reformed Church in America), and more recently, with ARC (Alliance of Reformed Churches). Coming out of that relationship left them with an abiding desire to affiliate with a solid, faithfully reformed denomination. Upon worshiping with Zion for Ascension Day service, they met over coffee with the Grassmid’s at the parsonage.
Coming back to Menno for Synod in 2024, they enjoyed the worship service Monday evening. Afterwards they met with the Grassmids and a member of the RCUS Welcoming Committee, Mr. Wayne Johnson. Much was discussed and bonds began to be forged. About this time, the group began streaming Zion services weekly.
Throughout the summer, the Stickney group hosted Rev. Grassmid for large-group membership classes. Upon the end of the summer, they determined to join the RCUS. Since that time, Rev. Grassmid spends the second Sunday of each month leading worship at the Stickney Senior Center, and the remaining services are livestreamed.
The group pictures show the Jan. 5 and Feb 9, 2025, membership Sundays, and additionally, the first Stickney baptism. Also pictured is a triple baby shower hosted in March, celebrating a trio of Zion Reformed Menno-Stickney babies. “The Lord is good, and greatly to be praised!”

On Sunday May 16, 2025 Tucker Hajek was baptized into the covenant family of God, at Providence Reformed Church in Limon , CO. Pastor Chris Bradley officiated, while Tucker’s proud parents, Trenton and Kaylie looked on.
Tucker joins siblings Barrett, Gavin, Kasen and Heidi. Congratulations Hajek Family!!
