Our meeting began Thursday afternoon with a devotion led by Rev. Michael Voytek concerning heaven reigning now. Afterwards, the body proceeded to business. The roll call showed nine ministers and seven elders present. Acting President Rev. Hank Bowen began the work and was elected as president, with Rev. Cody Schwichtenberg elected as vice president and Rev. Larry Lynch elected as our new stated clerk. Rev. Lynch is replacing Rev. Jimmy John Hall who was forced into retirement this year due to health issues. Elder Matt Fickbohm was elected to be our treasurer.
Rev. Lynch was also warmly welcomed by the body as a new minister serving at Hope Reformed Church in Pierre, SD. We were also blessed to hear from fraternal delegate, Elder Les Vanderveen, from the Canadian and American Reformed Churches, Manitoba Classis, as well as Synod President, Elder Roger Gallimore.
President Rev. Bowen summarized the year’s parochial reports as “taking care of business but holding steady,” while encouraging the body to persist and pray, especially for the Lord to raise up ministers to fill vacant pulpits in our Classis (Eureka Reformed, Eureka, SD, and Grace Reformed, Mitchell, SD) and across the RCUS. Rev. Bowen also encouraged prayer for the raising up of elders and deacons to serve in our churches as well. The individual parochial reports were heard, and prayers of thankfulness were offered for the Lord’s work among each of the churches.
